About Us

The Transport and Telecommunications Union “Nezavisnost” was founded on March 23rd, 2002. STATUTE and all necessary documents were adopted on a founding Conference of Trade Union Confederation. Members of Managing Committee and Presidency of Union were elected. TITOVIĆ ALEKSANDAR, from postal and telecommunications sector, was elected president of trade union..

The Transport and Telecommunications Union “Nezavisnost” includes following sectors:

- PTT Transport  “Serbia” Union
- “Telecom Serbia” Union
- Railway Transport of Serbia Union
- Road Transport of Serbia Union
- Air Transport of Serbia Union
- Airport “Nikola Tesla” Union
- Waterway Transport of Serbia Union
- “Poštanska štedionica“ Bank Union
- Telenor Union
- Telus Union
- “Ski resorts of Serbia” Union

 
 

Trade Union is especially involved in insuring:

    - Equality of all employees, members of the union, as well as their joint activities based on principles of solidarity and reciprocity,
    - Job and social security of members,
    - Suitable level of living standard for all employees, in compliance with the material and civilization achievements of the modern world,
    - Equality of all employees in the economy, state and society,
    - Regulation, better income and working conditions through collective bargaining and collective agreements, based on principles of equality and social dialogue,
    - Humane and democratic labor and social legislation,
    - Most efficient health care for all employees, especially for young people and women,
    - Protection and upgrading of the environment,
    - Development and upgrading of a tripartite industrial democracy as a whole,
    - Establishment and development of employee participation in decision making as well as defining and implementation of strategic socio-economic objectives and policies,
    - Members training and education in union activities, decision making participation in economy as well as general professional education,
    - Labor and legal protection as well as financial support of members according to the STATUTE and financial capability,
    - Publication of union newspaper and other publications, maintaining of transparency and good relations with press, radio and television,
    - Joint actions with other unions within the Trade Union Confederation “Nezavisnost”,
    - Cooperation with unions from other countries as well as taking active part in the activities of international union organizations.

The Transport and Telecommunications Union “Nezavisnost” has following bodies:

  1. CONGRESS
  2. HEAD COMMITTEE
  3. STATUTORY COMMITTEE
  4. SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE

Head Committee elects Presidency as operative-executive body. Chairman of the Head Committee and Presidency Meetings is Aleksandar Titović, the President.
Statutory Committee has six members. Chairman of the Statutory Committee Meetings is Slobodan Popović, the President.
Supervisory Committee has six members. Chairman of the Supervisory Committee Meetings is Zoran Tošić, the President.

 

The Transport and Telecommunications Union “Nezavisnost” is a member of international union central UNI (Union Network International), MKSS and EKSS.

 

The Transport and Telecommunications Union “Nezavisnost” is especially working on insuring labor and legal protection of union members before their employers and other government bodies and courts, by hiring a team of lawyers besides the legal service within our ''NEZAVISNOST'' head office, therefore we are providing our members with the best labor and legal protection in labor disputes.

 
 

 

The Transport and Telecommunications Union “Nezavisnost” is a member of the greatest global union organizations and as such has a very active roll in the work of UNI-EUROPA (Post). European Conference, where all Southeastern European unions exchange opinions and suggestions is held twice a year.

The Transport and Telecommunications Union is accomplishing a part of their goals through the activities of:

- YOUTH SECTION, whose president is Aleksandar Popović from Niš
- WOMEN’S SECTION, whose president is Jasna Mihajilović from Novi Sad

 
 

From its own membership fees, The Transport and Telecommunications Union “Nezavisnost” is financing following founds:

- Strike Found
- Education Found
- Labor and legal protection Found
- Solidarity Found
- Collective bargaining Found

According to the democratic organization and goals for which it is fighting, the union is above all, using democratic methods:

  1. establishing of a SOCIAL PARTNERSHIP
  2. collective bargaining and signing of COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS
  3. supporting the ban of LOCK-OUT (temporary closing down of enterprises)
  4. public protests
  5. STRIKES

However, union reserves the right to adjust these methods and forms to the specific situation.
